Normally when I am researching ancestors, once a woman marries, she is seldom found on her own unless her husband passes before she does.
That is not the case for Martha Johannesdatter Eldoen. While her husband went up to Saskatchewan, she remained in Minnesota on the farm with their youngest child and travelled on her own up to the farm once he had a house built.
She must have done other travelling on her own as well, because in the 1921 census, Jorgen is on his own. As they were a loving couple, we can only assume that she must have been travelling, perhaps to visit with grandchildren in the US.
