Thomas Whelan was born the son of a baker and became a baker in Enniscorthy, Ireland.
It is interesting that I could not find him as a baker in the city directories for Enniscorthy, so he must have worked for someone or an institution. Perhaps the hospital that is quite close to where he lived during both the 1901 and the 1911 Censuses.
We know, from family information, that he sent his youngest daughter to work in England around 1911 (perhaps just after the census). We don’t know yet what happened to the rest of the family. If you are a Whelan with history in Enniscorthy, perhaps you are related to Paul. Contact me and we can find out more.
