I think one of the most interesting things I found when I was researching Tilda Karoline Torgerson is the two baptism records. They look very similar, but one is the record from the Ministerial Records of the church itself (Borgund Lutheran) and the other is the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America records – what must have been recorded by the central diocese of the organization. Both are handwritten, so it is difficult to tell which is the original record and which is the derivative record, you can really only tell by where you receive the information.
It is really great that there is getting to be so much more information on the internet. It is a time-saver when I don’t have to travel to find copies of original records.
I found Saskatchewan records are some of the most difficult to locate. The Saskatchewan Genealogy Society is very closed and not the sharing type unless you are a member. The government ministry is expensive and doesn’t list a lot of information, so you have to already know what you are looking for.
On the opposite side, Minnesota was great to deal with and easy to search.
