According to the marriage records of William Ross and Alice Halliday in 1886, both of his parents were deceased.
According to the workhouse records for the birth of William, Mary was born in approximately 1838 as she was 20 at the time he was born.1
As William was born in Ireland, it is likely that both of his parents were born there.
