    Note there is a William John Ross born in 1858 to John Ross and Mary Jane “Gorman” in Carrigfergus.

    Checked guild records Preston 1862 - nothing found.

    Does not appear to be any of the William Rosses who signed the Ulster Covenant as none of their signatures match the signatures on the children’s birth certificates and Halliday’s death certificate.

    Two possibilities
    1. William Ross (as recorded in the log-book): succession number 4463 of the 2nd Bat. 21st Regiment (Royal Scots Fusiliers). Corps No. G.54. He joined The Corps of Commissionaires on 14th April 1882 and is listed as having been expelled on 15th August 1896. 
    2. William Ross (as recorded in the log-book): succession number 5347 of the 90th (Perthshire Volunteers).  Corps No. G.41.  He joined The Corps of Commissionaires on the 2nd April 1884 and is listed as having been dismissed on 27th April 1891.
