John Young was born in Lower Canada and moved to Huron Country, Ontario as a young man. He lived the remainder of his 80 years there.
His father had moved from Scotland to Canada (what is now Quebec). John then moved further west to Ontario, and his son William moved further west than that, first to Manitoba and then to Saskatchewan. Continuing in that idea, my grandmother moved all the way west to British Columbia. So, I guess you could say my family has lived across Canada.
In 1826, when John was born, Canada Co. was established to colonize Upper Canada. It is perhaps appropriate, then, that John was the first in his family to move from Lower Canada to Upper Canada in 1851.
