The day started with a tour of some churches in the area. There is much of my family history in Stråvalla, Halland, Sweden.

My 5x great-grandparents Jons Christensen and Anna Borgesdotter were probably married in this church as they were married in Stråvalla on 11 January 1747.

As well as their son Anders Jonsson and Maria Nilsdotter in 1789 . . . and many many more.

Anders and Maria lived with their children in Skattagård.

Next we stopped at the Rya church, which is currently in the Kungsbacka county. However, the Rya farms 1-4 were in the Frillesås parish (see more on Frillesås below).

My grandfather was living in Rya just before he moved to Canada at the age of 16. This church looks too new to be the church he would have gone to, but the bell tower may be from the older church.

We also stopped at the Frillesås church. Frillesås parish and Stråvalla parish are right next to each other in Halland county in Sweden.

Both my 3x great-grandfather Henrik Andreassen and his wife Elin Bengtsdotter were born in Frillesås. On their marriage Henrik was living at Rya and Elin was living in Ostre Stocken, both farms in the parish.

We then went to Vårgårda in Västra Götaland County to visit with my second cousin Christer and his wife Gerta. We had a traditional Swedish dinner with them and a wonderful visit.
