We left Oslo this morning and travelled by train to Trondheim. The train trip was 7.5 hours and very scenic.
The city was founded in 997 by Olaf I Tryggvason who also made the first effective effort to Christianize Norway.
We will explore some of the city tomorrow, but my main reason for coming here was to meet my second cousin once removed. She is actually on the English side of the family. You can read how we discovered our relationship here. We had a wonderful dinner with her and her husband starting with a traditional Norwegian soup and followed by various fish and meats, salads and fruits. Then we had coffee and chocolates and dates. We are really being spoiled this trip with all the extended family feeding us such wonderful meals.
Trondheim is very walkable and I’ll leave it here with a couple of pictures from early this evening.
