Well, we completed the circle tour of Iceland as we had planned, with a few adjustments along the way – mostly related to wind. Our tour is shown below, with the addition of the side trip to Eiríksstaðir in black.

When we returned the motorhome today, we were discussing the trip with the customer service person. He was saying that two of their motorhomes were blown off the road in the winds yesterday – one that required two people flown by helicopter to the hospital. Good thing we were always paying attention to the weather.
Overall we had a great time. The things I will remember most of all about Iceland.
- The wind
- Eiríksstaðir and Trey practicing HEMA
- The wind
- The rune stone at Hólavallagarður
- The wind
- The fact that most customer service people were not from Iceland – Sweden, UK, Ireland to name a few
- The wind
- The many waterfalls
- The wind
- The mountains that seem high (until you compare them to BC)
- The wind
- The constantly changing scenery
- The wind
- The quick changes in the weather, from sun to snow to rain in minutes
- And lastly, the wind
Stay tuned to our adventures in Norway and Sweden where I will get to look at some of the places where my ancestors lived.
